Meet Dr. Kotler

Robert Kotler, MD, FACS, Beverly Hills facial cosmetic surgeon, was born in Chicago, Illinois. His undergraduate work was at the University of Wisconsin; he then attended medical school at Northwestern University. His specialty residency service was spent at the Cook County Hospital, Northwestern University Hospitals and the University of Illinois Hospitals.

In 1973, Dr. Kotler having served six years in the US Army Reserves, was brought to active duty at the rank of Major and served at the DeWitt Army Hospital, a teaching Hospital at Ft. Belvoir, Virginia, just outside Washington, DC. He was a teacher in the Walter Reed Army Medical Center Residency Program, training army head and neck surgeons.

Following discharge from the military, Dr. Kotler served a Fellowship in cosmetic facial surgery in Los Angeles under one of the original superspecialist facial cosmetic surgeons, Morey Parkes, MD. Following this period of additional training, Dr. Kotler entered private practice and has been in such for 31 years.

Dr. Kotler limits his practice to cosmetic surgery of the face and neck. He has enormous experience in nasal surgery—both functional and cosmetic—with over 4,000 cases performed. Dr. Kotler is a Clinical Instructor at UCLA Medical Center and also teaches at USC. He is the author of SECRETS OF A BEVERLY HILLS COSMETIC SURGEON, The Expert’s Guide to Safe, Successful Surgery and its successor, THE ESSENTIAL COSMETIC SURGERY COMPANION, Don’t Consult A Cosmetic Surgeon Without This Book! Both have been very popular as tools for the consumer to make good decisions about their cosmetic surgery.

Dr. Kotler as an active teacher and lecturer has 52 medical publications and presentations to his credit. He has been a contributor to 14 medical textbooks and books for the public.

You may have seen Dr. Kotler on various radio and television programs or read about him in newspapers or magazines. Because of his interest in teaching the public, he is sought after by the media for his experience and expertise. He has appeared on Oprah, CNN, ABC, NBC and CBS news. He has been interviewed by the Chicago Tribune, The Los Angeles Times, The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, USA Today and Parade.

One of the most popular TV cosmetic surgery reality series, was DR. 90210. Dr. Kotler was a member of the original ensemble cast of cosmetic surgeons and was universally recognized as a voice of experience and reason.
